After a long wait for the release of Cyberpunk 2077, the day has finally arrived and we take a dive into the game and see how crucial first impressions can really impact players' experience. Let's begin the honest and critical initial impression of the next major RPG from CD Projekt Red. The coverage is going to based on gameplay from Xbox Series X which is known to handle the game far better than the previous generation consoles.
Graphics
Alright so after seeing so many videos prior to release and how beautiful Night City appears in those previews, the game released today is a major let-down. Nearly everything throughout the environment appears to have poor quality textures like those of early PlayStation 2 games. The memes found all over the internet are brutally honest and true for a game that has so much hype for incredible graphics. This game looks like it was released in the mid-2000's, before Grand Theft Auto IV (released in 2008).
Assets
Several of the same models are copied and pasted all over the place which shows CDPR spent little to no time in designing a truly immersive and believable world. In addition to this, there are only a few different NPC's when walking the streets of the city which greatly breaks immersivity and believability.
Gameplay
My first impressions of the gameplay is mediocre at best. I feel like the game was meant to be played from a third person perspective but was changed to first-person after the fact. Hand-to-hand combat appears awkward and unimpressive even after CDPR expressed their motives to ensure the most immersive and convincing hand combat when the game released.
More to come!
